Spaces can convey contents, arouse feelings and thus 'tell a story'. Built geometries and materials, light and media, haptics and acoustics are the protagonists and varieties, through which a 'story in space' evolves. Therefore my ideas originate and develop inbetween storytelling and architecture, the visual arts and object design. I´m curious to explore the potentials between these fields in order to fuse them together and to find an original and unique composition. My aim is to create a unity of build, atmospheric and emotional space.
This process of discovery leads to an extraordinary and unexpected interpretation of space and the extension of the pragmatic requirements. By working closely with my clients throughout this process, my work always reflects their aspirations and translates them into an architectural vision with an engaging user experience. A close collaborative work with clients, artisans, consultants and other professionals enables me to rethink standard typologies in search for improved alternatives and to take experimental steps in the production, seeking for high standards in the implementation. With more than 20 years of experience in projects throughout all scales, I offer all architectural services from concept to execution, as well as exhibition and furniture design.
Boris Banozic works predominantly in the field of residential building, interior design and scenography. He passed his architectural diploma in Munich and continued his study at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main. There he started his engagement with the relations inbetween architecture, the visual arts and graphic design under the guidance of his professors Peter Cook and Enric Miralles. The poetic approach and the expressive formal language of the two architects shaped his notion of contemporary architecture.
In the first 3 years of his professional life he worked for Atelier Markgraph in Frankfurt. There he could apply his knowledge and creativity in various projects (scenography, fair design, exhibition design) for the first time. The urge for a more progressive and experimental fusion of space and design, led him to the decision to start his own studio in the year 2000. His first projects were a house in Zadar/Croatia (2003-2005) and an observation tower for the `Weatherpark´ in Offenbach (2004). It was followed by experimental stagedesigns for Adidas (2005), the Alte Oper Frankfurt (2006) and the Jewish Museum Berlin (2011-2022). For the exhibtion `40 years Stroemfeld/Roter Stern publishing house´ he represented its history in the form of a scattered star (2010). The radical fusion of graphics and space, that he implemented for the Stuttgart flight simulation center (2011), approved in retrospect to be an important stage for the development of the 3sat TV studios Kulturzeit, nano and scobel (2016), whose architecture is respectively derived from the logo of their on air design (2016). From 2017 to 2020 he led the team of Cheil MDLab as the Executive Creative Director, responsible for the strategic and creative development of retail and exhibition spaces for Samsung.
