IMM Cologne 2011
Our interest was to investigate the potentials of existing materials and products to generate space: transforming a standard, ordinary form into an extraordinary one, Creating an extensive spatial work, starting with the smallest possible unit. In search of a product with the potential of creating space and reflecting our faculty, We came upon the folding metre stick. since a long time it is used to meassure space. we decided to create space with it. To get a stable structure, we developed a knot by interlocking two metre sticks and putting a lace around it. By adding the resulting crosses by overlapping and screwing, we received a strong horizontal structure, that could reach a freestanding hight of 2.70m. The resulting amorphous form consists of two walls made out of 1.148 metre sticks, erected without any further support by bending them to a curved position.
